    Oscar, our guide taking us first to the New Cathedral de Managua, Immaculada Concepcion. Church is always what we wanted to visit first whenever we go explore countries. It was a beautiful feeling that the cathedral visit was the first in the itinerary for this tour.

    We had a very good time. Rene did great job explaining the history and importance of the places we visited. A very quick trip at 2.5 hours with a superficial exploration of city.

    I cannot say enough good things about Vapues Travel and Lucia. We contacted Lucía about a year ago. We kept changing our plans, and while most people would have gotten frustrated and given up on us, Lucía never did. Finally, when we were ready to come to Nicaragua, we decided to only book a day tour of Managua and deal with other activities once we arrived. Again, Lucia stuck with us. We had a great tour of Managua, and she even had the driver take us to Granada. Once in Nicaragua, we decided to go to Little Corn Island. We reached out to Lucia, and in a matter of hours, she had a great 3-night trip planned for us. The trip was great and went off like clockwork. At least we thought so. Apparently, something was not up to Lucia’s quality. We did not notice, but since she was not happy when we returned to Granada, she offered us a day tour of the White Village. All to make up for an issue we did not even know was an issue. The transportation, accommodations, and guides were all top-notch from our perspective. We highly recommend Vapues Travel for your next visit to Nicaragua. It is rare to find someone that corrects a problem you did not even know you had.

    From the first contact we knew this would be a great experience! We visited the perfect sites to feel like we’d gotten to know Managua. Our tour guide, Gustavo, was experienced, professional and friendly and shared lots of historical facts. Excellent Spanish and English to accommodate the whole group! Great your experience and beautiful city!

    We had a Managua city tour that lasted for slightly less than three hours. This was with Vapuez Travel and our tour guide was Rene and our van driver was Juan. We saw what Rene believed were the key sites in the Old Managua. This included Loma de Tiscapa, where the old presidential palace once stood before it was completely destroyed by the 1972 earthquake. Much of Managua’s history lies in this site and Rene was very good in filling in all the history blanks. From there we did the National Palace of Culture, which was formerly used as the Parliament and which was now an informative museum of the country. On the opposite side of the square sat the unused presidential palace, since according to the president’s wife, it gave off bad energy so she refused to set foot in it. Beside it was the old Cathedral, which was now just a shell since the inside had been gutted by the devastating earthquake. We finally went to the Puerto Salvador Allende, their ‘Lake Walk’. It had the equestrian statue of Simon Bolivar and the numerous gigantic ‘trees of life’, a personal project of the president’s wife. I think we missed out on the market visit, which was in the itinerary. Oh well. I can’t express enough how happy we were with the guiding of Rene. He was very articulate and he knew so much of the history of Nicaragua and Managua. We enthusiastically give him a ‘two thumbs up!
