What to expect
Novi Belgrade
After airport pick up the tour will start by driving through the new part of the city called New Belgrade. This part of Belgrade was developed during Tito's era, when the country was named Yugoslavia. Nowadays this is the main business and residential area in the whole city.
A short drive will take us to Saint Sava Temple, the second largest orthodox church in the whole Europe with stunning crypt and main dome filled with mosaics that will leave you completely breathless
Next on our route is Tashmajdan Park, second largest park within the city of Belgrade
Afterwards we will pass by the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia. This monumental building was built in the early twentieth century, and it served firstly as the National Parliament of Yugoslavia, then Serbia and Montenegro, and it eventually became the Parliament of Serbia in 2006. It is one of Belgrade’s most significant buildings that has witnessed many important events in the history of the city and of the nation as well.
Next landmark that you are going to see is Kalemegdan Park or Belgrade Fortress, number one attraction in the city. Here we will finally reach the rivers, and we are going to show you the best places that offer splendid view over the confluence, New Belgrade and Zemun.
Knez Mihailova
From Belgrade Fortress we will continue our walking tour of the city of Belgrade by visiting the main shopping and pedestrian street zone called Knez Mihailo Street which will take us all the way to Republic Square - the main meeting point.
Republic Square is main epicenter of the city. Here you will see two most valuable buildings for cultural life in Belgrade: National Museum, built at the beginning of 20th century, and National Theater, built as the first theater in the city itself. In the center of the square is the Monument dedicated to Knez Mihailo, Serbian ruler who liberated the city from the Ottomans.
Terazije Fountain
The last attraction of your Belgrade Layover Tour will be the most charming square in Belgrade called Terazije with beautiful hotel Moskva as one of the main landmarks in Belgrade. Free time for lunch before the transfer back to Nikola Tesla Airport.
