    Actual Gorge was amazing. Lack of Tui guide _ Sylvie was very poor . something about a taxi not turning up. Then at end when I had to meet her to get my boat ticket at a taverna I had expected her to be somewhere we could find her especially as she hadn't been with us in morning but no she was upstairs in taverna eating her dinner_ like I would have known that . Gorge was amazing but I would say pretty demanding . I was on my own and had expected to see more tourists walking it .Good rangers

    Beautiful scenery, 1st 3km extremely steep, where most accidents could happen, very well signed, lots of water and toilet stops which was unexpected, not for people who are not used to hill walking or walking on Rick's, a bit of scrambling needed and you must wear proper walking boots with a good amount of grip. Our guide was brilliant very knowledgeable and advised us of where to be most careful and not to tread on the black limestone rocks as they are the slipped ones.

    This is a long day, pickup was 6.15am and drop off was 8.30pm, and it was not an easy hike (it wasn't overly difficult, just not a walk on the park). Was it worth it? Absolutely. The views are stunning, it was the highlight of my Crete holiday. Starting at 1200m in the mountains where it's quite chilly at that time of the morning) and ending up on the south coast by the Libyan sea. It took me a total of 7.5 hours, at a steady pace, regularly stopping to take photos.

    We did not complete the walk and had to climb back to the top and go back to the hotel by taxi (€150). According to the Tui information, I fulfilled the criteria for the walk (no heart condition, asthma) and I have in the past done fell-walking in the Lake District, but I was unprepared for how rocky the terrain would be beyond the initial steep descent. I feel the information should include the need to be a current regular hill/mountain walker, prepared for unremitting stony/rocky terrain.

    I enjoyed the whole experience, the coach journey, the trek through the stunning Samaria Gorge and the ferry trip to pick up the coach. It was an excellent but very tiring day.
