From Chania, head to the central KTEL bus station located at 1866 Square. Purchase your ticket for the bus to the village of Omalos, which is the starting point for the Samaria Gorge hike. Once you arrive at Omalos, follow the signs to the Samaria Gorge entrance. The hike begins at the Xyloskalo point, which is well-marked. At the end of the hike, you will reach the village of Agia Roumeli. Here, you can rest and enjoy some refreshments. To return to Chania, purchase a ferry ticket to the village of Sfakia. The ferry ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Sfakia, you can find buses that will take you back to Chania. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance to ensure a timely return.
