What to expect
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral stands out from the old town buildings with it's bright color and Byzantine architecture. It's one of the latest constructions of the old city, the Russian Orthodox church, build by the request of Russian Emperor Alexander the 3rd in the 1900. It's located on the high point of the Toompea Hill in front of the Parlament building.
Fat Margaret - Estonian Maritime Museum
Fat Margareth (Paks Margareeta) reminds us of the romantic legend of "Estonian Romeo and Juliet" - the story of a pesant boy Herman and firsheman's daughter Margareth. The Tall Herman tower is on the opposite part of the old town, sadly separated from his love for centuries.
The Dome Church is one of the oldest churches of Tallinn. The church looks very plain and simple with the white walls and small dome, but it has the very long history. It was first mentioned in 1233 and since than it has been one of town's main temples. It's dedicated to Virgin Mary. It has the graves of the prominent people of 13th-19th centuries.
St. Olaf’s Church or St. Olav's Church in Tallinn, Estonia, is believed to have been built in the 12th century and to have been the centre for old Tallinn's Scandinavian community before Denmark conquered Tallinn in 1219. Its dedication relates to King Olaf II of Norway (also known as Saint Olaf, 995–1030). The first known written records referring to the church date back to 1267, and it was extensively rebuilt during the 14th century.
The Three Sisters building complex
The Three Sisters of Tallinn (Kolm Õde, address Pikk 71 / Tolli 2) are three picturesque “accreted” neighboring houses with a high gable roof, on the streets of Pikk next to the Fat Margaret towers.
Toompea Hill is an elevated part of the Old Town in Tallinn, which is a limestone hill with steep elongated slopes with a flat top with an area of about 7 hectares. Vyshgorod is 20-30 meters above the surrounding area. You will have around 2 hrs of free time to continue your exploration independently.
