What to expect
A salute to Oscar Wilde. We’ll start with a salute to our of Ireland’s most famous and, in his time, controversial sons - Oscar Wilde.
National Gallery of Ireland
Next, we’ll pop into the National Gallery to learn about Irish history through some fascinating works of art: the Marriage of Strongbow and Aoife which signalled the end of the old Gaelic order in Ireland; beautiful stained glass windows and a hugely symbolic painting about the Irish Civil War.
National Museum of Ireland - Archaeology
Then we’ll go to arguably Dublin’s best museum - the National Museum of Archaeology & History. We’ll visit The Treasury which hosts the greatest treasures that Ireland has produced including the Tara Brooch and Ardagh Chalice.
St Stephen's Green and Grafton street
Trinity College Dublin
Trinity College and the Old Library which hosts the famous Book of Kells (tickets required)
The Book of Kells Experience
Trinity College and the Old Library which hosts the famous Book of Kells (tickets required)
Temple Bar
Stroll the cobbled streets of the famous Temple Bar area. Your guide will show you the real local spots (street art, bohemian shops) and hidden gems of what is a overty touristy area.
A brief intermission to be a tourist again - an Epic end to our tour at Dublin Castle - the centre of British occupation in Ireland for over 700yrs.
A visit to one of the best sights in Dublin - Christchurch Cathedral.
Local shopping at George’s St. Arcade. Now we’ll take a break from being a tourist and start to be a local. We’ll amble through the charming areas of Grafton st and George’s St. Arcade. Here we will pay a visit to a local Irish jeweller - see him working on a piece (maybe have a go yourself!) and learn about the Ireland-inspired necklaces, rings etc. A great opportunity to obtain an authentic gift from Ireland.
Ha'penny Bridge
Cross the famous Ha'Penny Bridge, one of Dublin's icons. Take look up the river towards the Guinness Brewery (maybe you'll detect the aroma of hops boiling) or down the river towards the Custom House and the modern Docklands area. Or simply stop to observe the lovers' locks.
Leinster House
Irish Parliament Building
Bank of Ireland
The beautiful Old Parliament Building used in the 18th century by the British at the height of Dublin's golden age
O'Connell Street
See Ireland's main thoroughfare and one of the widest streets in Europe. Admire The Spire, the GPO (where the 1916 Rising began), and learn about Ireland's Marthin Luther King Jnr, Daniel O'Connell
