What to expect
Vatican City
It's the smallest state in the world (440m2), but one of the richest. It is also the least populated state in the world with its 1000 inhabitants. We will walk by the square St Peter, surrounded by a majestic quadruple colonnade displays the largest church of the Christian world: St. Peter’s Basilica (Basilica di San Pietro). It is also the heart of Vatican City, the smallest state in the world, which was in antiquity occupied by Nero’s circus and gardens, where many Christians, including St. Peter were martyred.
The St Peter's Basilica is the heart of the Vatican and the largest of the Christian world, with a length of 186 meters, a 46-meter tall nave and its dome peaking at 136 meters. The interior can accommodate 20,000 people over an area of 22,000 m². Saint Peter’s preserves many valuable works of art, including ten thousand square meters of mosaics, Michelangelo’s Pietà.
Castel Sant’Angelo, also called Hadrianeum or Sepulcrum Antoninorum, structure in Rome, Italy, that was originally the mausoleum of the Roman emperor Hadrian and became the burial place of the Antonine emperors until Caracalla. It was built in AD 135–139 and converted into a fortress in the 5th century. It stands on the right bank of the Tiber River and guards the Ponte Sant’Angelo, one of the principal ancient Roman bridges.
Via Della Conciliazione
A large avenue, the Via della Conciliazione, connects the Tiber and the Castel Sant'Angelo to St. Peter's Square and its basilica. This space was the old Borgo, a district with narrow streets that was demolished during the great works undertaken by Mussolini, radically transforming the appearance of the place. To the north of the Vatican, the well-to-do area of Prati and Clodio, between the Palace of Justice in Piazza Cavour and the court in Piazzale Clodio, is very airy and rather residential, with cafés, bars and various restaurants, as well as quality stores for clothes and luxury.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
