Metekhi Cathedral

Metekhi Cathedral is one of the oldest religious constructions in Tbilisi. First church on this place was built by king Vakhtang Gorgasali in VI century. The same king is considered to be a builder of Tbilisi. Name of the place is an old Georgian word, which means - "territory around the palace" This name is another proof of the historical fact that here were located royal residences of Georgia.

Narikala Fortress

Besides its historical importance, Narinkala fortress is located on the highest point in the old town, from where one can enjoy incredibly beautiful views of Tbilisi. Its history goes back to VI century A.D. but has long and troublesome history afterwards, including lots of destructions. Interestingly, the fortress has many names. Throughout centuries, it was called: "The fortress of Envy", "Mother fortress of Tbilisi" "NarinKala"

National Botanical Garden of Georgia

Botanical Garden of Tbilisi was founded on the basis of the royal garden, which existed there since XVII century. Today it is stretched on 97 hectares and has over 3500 species of plants from different parts of the world.

Abanotubani

Bath district is the heart of old Tbilisi. It is a place where the life in the city started, where first tanners arrived and where king Vakhtang killed a pheasant according to a very famous legend about creation of the city. This is a place where famous sulphur water flaws through a gorge and where remnants of the city's defensive wall are still preserved.
