Cinque Terre

The Cinque Terre are a rugged stretch of coast of the eastern Ligurian Riviera (La Spezia Riviera) located in the territory of the province of La Spezia, between Punta Mesco and Punta di Montenero, in which there are five villages (three municipalities and two hamlets) or, as they used to say in ancient times, "lands", which listed from north to south are: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore.

Vernazza

Vernazza is the second of the towns that make up the Cinque Terre, in a bay between the municipalities of Monterosso al Mare and Riomaggiore. It also includes the subsequent village of Corniglia, a fraction of it.

Manarola

In Manarola, can relax by bathing in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea, taste typical products in the local shops or wander around this small fishing village part of a territory declared a UNESCO heritage site

Riomaggiore

Riomaggiore, like the other Cinque Terre, is squeezed between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range that detaches itself from the Apennines at Mount Zatta and descends in a south-eastern direction, acting as a watershed between the Val di Vara and the coastal area. The historic center, whose original nucleus dates back to the 13th century, is located in the valley of the Rio Maggiore stream, the ancient Rivus Major from which the village takes its name

Monterosso al Mare

Monterosso al Mare is at the center of a small natural gulf, protected by a modest artificial reef, to the east of Punta Mesco on the La Spezia Riviera. It constitutes the westernmost part of the Cinque Terre.

Levanto

The town of Levanto is of ancient foundation, nestled in a valley covered with olive trees, vines and pines and directly overlooking the sea. The ridges of the valley end in the sea with the Mesco promontory and the tip of Levanto. Part of its territory also falls within the Cinque Terre National Park and the Cinque Terre Marine Protected Area.

The guide was great, very patient and kind, we were able to visit the 5 towns, the transport was good, instructions clear, etc. However if you want to really enjoy each town do it yourself, that way you will have the time to relax and take the time to enjoy, the tour was amazing but a little bit fast.

Worst experience ever, and no support from either Viator or the tour company. No words to express our disappointment.

We had a great time. The scenery was spectacular. The ferry was really nice. Our group stayed together really well.

the guide was very nice. it felt like we were on a race versus getting to enjoy. i would recommend others doing seaside areas in italy in their own.

Your tour agent was terrible! We could not find the train we were on. He gave us no direction except look for the pink building. He came to find us last minute. We were terified. I would never recommend Viator.

This tour was a lot like being on a cruise. You get to experience a location for a short period of time and then it's onto the next place. Approximately 1 hr at each village which can be not long enough. We really enjoyed the train rides, bus and ferry trip. Be sure to be on time or they may leave without you! If you are going to stop for lunch, get to your restaurant sooner than later to make sure you have time to eat before you have to leave. Also, bring a swimsuit and towel because there are a couple of spots you can swim if you want. Be ready for LOTS of steps! Our guide Juliano was very good but at times a bit hard to understand. Our's was about a 14 hour day. We would definitely like to go back to Cinque Terre and stay for a while.

No clear, detailed instruction on the meeting place made us hard time to get to the meeting point in a very busy train station in Firenze. We ran around asking people and arrived before the departure time of 7 AM and the lady at the tour office told us to go to another place outside the train station; we ran another 10 min to the place and waited for over 20 min with no help and then another tour group guide called our group guide and said "They left at 6:50." We messaged Viator using WhatsApp; received the message that the refund would be processed within 3 days. 4 days have passed; no refund yet.

i loved this tour it was my dream to be able to visit cinque terre during my solo trip to italy. I was able to rely on this agency who provided a very organized guide on board who made me live this experience without worries

I'm not happy at all that way before the departure time, I received a call to tell me that the bus is leaving without me because for them I wasn't on time. City Sightseeing said it is Viator who doesn't announce the right time. It doesn't matter, Viator or CS is the same, I paid for an excursion. The woman at the desk said it's too late when I arrived though it was 5 minutes before the departure. And when she noticed there was also a couple of Indian who were also waiting like me for the same tour, she decided to tell us "if you run you can catch them" but not telling us the way to join them. Lucky i had a tour the day before so I somehow knew the way, but can you imagine, we were running with our sandals and almost felt down. So if the couple wasn't there, she would have never said to me I could catch the group....how honest is this? It's only about money. When I booked my 2 tours in Portugal and 1 in Italy the day before that one, people were late and there was no problem to wait for them, neither was it to use other travellers time to wait for the belated ones, and now they rush me ten minutes before the time so I had to run, and all to hear "they left" pffff A couple of French was not happy either because when they've booked the trip, they've been told that they would have lunch included until they noticed it wasn't the case.... The rest of the trip was nice, the guide Giuliano is also great but what did make the trip very pleasant was mainly thanks to other travellers, the landscape and the good weather. The only thing that I could complain was the timing, it was about an hour in every village and once we have 1h20, but not enough to eat because during lunch time it's crowded everywhere so the service is more slow and one hour is not enough to go shopping in any place. But it didn't matter much to me as I prefer to visit more places than spending time shopping, but I can understand that people who want to shop can't be upset. I think you add 2hrs more on this tour would be perfect.

Walking the streets and the great colours of the towns. The instructions on the meeting point were a little confusing so were there very early and could not find the operator. Found them at the last minute after walking around for 20 minutes.
