What to expect
Pompeii Archaeological Park
Pompeii is an incredible archaeological site, full of history and wonders to discover. Here are the main places to see: Pompeii Forum: The political, economic and religious heart of the city, surrounded by important buildings such as the Temple of Jupiter and the Basilica. House of the Vettii: One of the best preserved homes, famous for its refined frescoes and luxurious decorations. Pompeii Amphitheater: One of the oldest in the world (dated to 70 BC), where gladiator fights took place. Lupanar: An ancient brothel with erotic frescoes, evidence of daily life in Pompeii. Stabian Baths: Ancient public baths with pools and rooms for hot and cold baths. Teatro Grande and Teatro Piccolo: The first was used for theatrical performances, the second for musical performances and oratories.
Vesuvius National Park
A visit to Mount Vesuvius is a unique experience, combining nature, history and spectacular views of the Gulf of Naples. Here's what to see and what to expect during the hike: The Crater Trail: The climb takes about 30-40 minutes, and is strenuous but accessible to all. Along the way there are breathtaking views of Naples, the Amalfi Coast and the islands of Capri and Ischia. The Crater of Vesuvius: Once at the top, you can observe the active crater, from the edge you can see the fumaroles and the volcanic soil that changes color depending on the mineral composition. Panorama of the Gulf of Naples: One of the highlights of the visit is the extraordinary panorama that sweeps over Naples, Mount Vesuvius, the Sorrento Peninsula and the Tyrrhenian Sea. On clear days, the view extends all the way to Capri and the Pontine Islands.
