A Day of Cinematic Dreams and Culinary Delights

Today was a blend of unexpected adventures and familiar comforts, a day that painted a vivid picture of Nigeria's multifaceted charm. From the heart of Gashaka Gumti National Park to the bustling city of Abuja, it was a journey that engaged all the senses. I'm always excited to share these experiences with you all, and today's tale is one I think you'll particularly enjoy.

Our day began with an early start, a hearty breakfast at Cilantro Abuja. Aisha, Tunde, Funke, and I enjoyed a delicious meal before setting off for what promised to be an enlightening morning. The plan was to visit the Gashaka film production, an attraction I had heard about but didn't quite know what to expect.

The drive to Gashaka film production was scenic, a reminder of Nigeria's diverse landscapes. We passed through rolling hills and lush greenery, a stark contrast to the urban environment we had left behind. As we approached the location, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation.

The Gashaka Film Production turned out to be an eye-opening experience. It wasn't quite what I had imagined. I had pictured a bustling movie set, but instead, it was more of an educational initiative, showcasing the park's potential as a natural backdrop for filmmakers. We learned about the efforts to promote Gashaka Gumti National Park as a prime location for film projects, highlighting its stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife. Tunde, with his keen interest in photography, was particularly fascinated, peppering the guide with questions about lighting and optimal shooting locations. Funke, ever the social butterfly, was busy making connections, exchanging contacts with some of the local crew members.

The beauty of Gashaka Gumti isn't just in its landscapes, but in its potential to inspire stories that connect us all to nature.

After spending a few hours at the film production site, soaking in the information and snapping photos, we headed back towards Abuja. The drive back was filled with lively discussion, each of us sharing our impressions of the experience. Aisha was particularly impressed with the conservation efforts highlighted at the production, a cause close to her heart as a nurse. It's always fulfilling to see my family engage with and appreciate Nigeria's natural and cultural heritage.

For lunch, we decided to try Hootas Place Abuja, a restaurant recommended by a friend. Known for its diverse menu featuring Turkish, Nigerian, and Chinese cuisine, it seemed like the perfect spot to satisfy everyone's cravings. The restaurant had a vibrant and cozy atmosphere, with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. We settled into a comfortable booth and perused the menu, which indeed offered a wide array of options.

I opted for a traditional Nigerian dish, while Aisha chose a Turkish specialty. Tunde, ever adventurous, went for a Chinese stir-fry, and Funke, predictably, ordered the most Instagrammable item on the menu. The food was delicious, each dish bursting with flavor. The service was prompt and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. It was a delightful meal that left us feeling satisfied and energized for the rest of the day.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to Today's Bukka for dinner. This restaurant, known for its authentic Nigerian dishes and vibrant ambiance, was the perfect place to end our day of exploration. The decor was a beautiful blend of traditional and modern elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

We ordered a variety of dishes, including Ofada rice, banga soup, and suya, each one a testament to Nigeria's rich culinary heritage. The flavors were bold and satisfying, a true celebration of Nigerian cuisine. The portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable, making it an excellent value for money. What struck me most about Today's Bukka was the attention to detail, from the presentation of the food to the friendly and efficient service. It was a truly memorable dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Abuja.

Before heading back to our accommodation, we took a leisurely stroll through the city, soaking in the sights and sounds of Abuja at night. The city was alive with energy, a vibrant mix of cultures and traditions. As we walked, I reflected on the day's experiences, from the cinematic potential of Gashaka Gumti National Park to the culinary delights of Abuja's diverse restaurants. It was a day that showcased Nigeria's beauty, diversity, and resilience, a reminder of why I love sharing these experiences with my family and with you, my readers.

Tomorrow, we plan to visit the Usuma Lower Dam, another of Nigeria's natural wonders [see tomorrow's Itinerary]. I'm eager to explore this site and share its beauty with you all. I am also hoping to find a nice bar, such as OShey Bar & Chops, to relax and unwind after a long day of sightseeing [see tomorrow's Itinerary]. Until then, goodnight from Abuja!

I must also remember to buy a portable phone charger and a rain poncho [TripEssentialsForgotten]. I hope I will remember!

Looking back on the day, I am reminded that travel is more than just seeing new places; it's about experiencing new things, connecting with different cultures, and creating lasting memories with loved ones. It's about embracing the unexpected and finding beauty in the everyday. And as we continue our journey through Nigeria, I am excited to see what adventures await us.

As we drove back, Aisha and I discussed the importance of preserving Nigeria's natural heritage. The decline in wildlife populations in Gashaka Gumti National Park is alarming. We need to support conservation efforts and raise awareness about the importance of protecting these precious ecosystems. It is our responsibility to ensure that future generations can enjoy the beauty and diversity of Nigeria's natural wonders. It's a cause I'm passionate about, and one I hope to dedicate more time to in the future. Perhaps I can even use my blog to raise awareness and support for these vital initiatives. It's something to consider as we continue our journey.

I am also proud to see Nigeria becoming a hub for film production. The potential for growth and development in this sector is immense. By showcasing Nigeria's unique landscapes and cultures, we can attract investment and create opportunities for local talent. It's an exciting time for the Nigerian film industry, and I am eager to see what the future holds.

As I sit here tonight, reflecting on our day, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to experience Nigeria with my family. It's a privilege to share these moments with them and with you, my readers. Thank you for joining me on this journey. Until tomorrow, may your days be filled with adventure and discovery.
