A Day of Seaside Serenity

Today was all about embracing the tranquil beauty of the Pagasetic Gulf. After several days of more strenuous hiking and exploring the mountain villages, I decided to dedicate today to relaxation and enjoying the simpler pleasures of coastal life. I was looking forward to experiencing the beaches and local cuisine of Kato Gatzea, a picturesque village known for its calm waters and inviting atmosphere.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Akti, a restaurant right on the water's edge [i]. The gentle sea breeze and the sound of the waves created a soothing backdrop as I enjoyed a traditional Greek breakfast. I savored every bite, appreciating the fresh ingredients and the authentic flavors. It was the perfect start to a day dedicated to relaxation and exploration.

With renewed energy, I set off to explore Kato Gatzea beach. The beach is conveniently located within the village, making it easily accessible. As I approached, I was struck by the crystal-clear waters and the mix of sand and small pebbles that lined the shore. The beach was framed by lush greenery, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. I found a comfortable spot and spent some time simply soaking in the sun and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The calm waters of the Pagasetic Gulf were perfect for a leisurely swim, and I took the opportunity to refresh myself in the cool, clear sea.

Sometimes, the greatest adventures are found in the simplest moments.

After a refreshing swim, I decided to explore another nearby beach, Lea's beach. Lea's beach exuded a unique charm with its clear waters and tranquil setting. It was easy to see why so many people have fond memories of this place. I spent a considerable amount of time wandering along the shore, gathering seashells, and taking in the stunning views. The beach offered a sense of serenity that was truly rejuvenating.

As lunchtime approached, I made my way to To Kima • Seaside Family Restaurant, a highly recommended eatery known for its fresh seafood and traditional Greek dishes. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and a great location, right by the sea. I decided to try their grilled prawns, which were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The service was attentive, and the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable. It was a delightful culinary experience that perfectly complemented the day's seaside adventures.

In the afternoon, I decided to indulge in a bit of shopping at Mediterraneo Art Store. I always enjoy finding unique souvenirs to remind me of my travels, and this store seemed like the perfect place to do so. The store had a diverse collection of local crafts and artwork. I spent some time browsing the displays, admiring the intricate details and the artistic talent on display. Eventually, I found a beautiful handmade ceramic piece that captured the essence of Mount Pelion. It was the perfect memento to take back home.

As the day drew to a close, I made my way to To Katofli tis Ketis for dinner. This restaurant was known for its authentic Greek cuisine and its cozy ambiance. I ordered a traditional moussaka, a dish I had been craving since arriving in Greece. The moussaka was rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. It was the perfect way to end a day filled with coastal charms and culinary delights.

Tomorrow marks the final day of my solo adventure in Mount Pelion. I plan to visit PelionTrainViewPointOfPinatakes and Argo, soaking in the last bits of the region's beauty before heading back to Athens. I'm also looking forward to trying the local cuisine at Polydroso restaurant, Meintani (Niki's Taverna), and Agora 1955, and perhaps enjoying a drink at Grappa Vino & Aperitivo. It's bittersweet to think that this journey is coming to an end, but I'm filled with gratitude for the experiences and memories I've gained along the way.
