Sunday Strolls and Renaissance Rolls
Today was a day of gentle exploration and delicious discoveries in Urbino. We embraced the city's relaxed Sunday vibe, letting the rhythm of Italian life guide our adventures. It was a day filled with simple pleasures, from scenic rides to historical landmarks and, of course, delightful culinary experiences.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Cafe’ Trentatre’. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and warm pastries filled the air, instantly lifting our spirits. Mei-Ling and Lin shared a flaky croissant, while I opted for a strong espresso to prepare for the day's adventures. The cafe's cozy atmosphere provided the perfect start to a day of exploration.

With our appetites satisfied, we hopped aboard the Trenino Turistico Urbino Explorer. Lin was especially excited, her eyes wide with anticipation as the little train chugged along the cobblestone streets. The ride offered a unique perspective of Urbino, allowing us to soak in the city's beauty without tiring our feet. As the train wound its way through the historic center, we admired the Renaissance architecture and learned about the city's rich heritage through the audio guide. The panoramic views from the train were simply breathtaking.

Our next stop was Porta Santa Lucia, one of the historic gates that once guarded the city. As we approached the gate, I couldn't help but imagine the countless travelers who had passed through it over the centuries. We took our time exploring the area, admiring the architecture and soaking in the atmosphere. It’s amazing to think that this gate has stood for centuries, witnessing the ebb and flow of history. The gate is near the Porta Santa Lucia Shopping Center, and while it may seem like a modern addition, it’s designed to blend with the environment, even featuring rooftop gardens.

For lunch, we ventured to Ristorante San Giovanni Urbino, drawn in by its promise of traditional Italian cuisine. The restaurant had a cozy, old-world charm that immediately made us feel at home. We started with a selection of *olive ascolane*, a regional specialty, before moving on to the main courses. Mei-Ling chose the *filetto di manzo*, while I decided on the *coda di rospo*, both dishes bursting with authentic flavors. Lin enjoyed a simple yet delicious plate of homemade pasta. The friendly staff and reasonable prices added to the overall positive experience.

As the afternoon sun began to dip, we made our way to L'HOST: wine beer & something else, a charming little bar known for its selection of local wines and beers. While Mei-Ling savored a glass of crisp white wine, I sampled a local craft beer. Lin, of course, enjoyed a refreshing *succo di frutta*. The bar's relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect setting to unwind and reflect on the day's adventures. Sipping our drinks, we watched as the locals strolled by, their laughter and conversations filling the air.

Dinner was at Ristorante Il Castello, a restaurant with a lovely garden and a reputation for serving traditional dishes with a modern twist. The ambiance was elegant yet welcoming, making it ideal for a family meal. We started with the *Tagliere di Degustazione*, a platter of local cheeses and cured meats, before indulging in the *Ravioli al Tartufo Nero* and the *Rollè di Coniglio in Porchetta*. Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, showcasing the region's finest ingredients. The restaurant also caters to those with dietary restrictions, offering gluten-free options.

Before signing off, I'd like to mention that I heard about a concert by Pasquale Mirra on June 21st. It seems Urbino always has something going on, whether it’s a musical performance or a historical reenactment like the Duke's Festival. There’s always something new to discover. And with that, I bid you *buona notte*!
