A Canvas of Colors and Flavors
Today was a day of visual and culinary indulgence in the charming village of Purmamarca. After several years of coding away in Berlin, the chance to witness such natural beauty is something I won't soon forget. The vibrant hues of the Hill of Seven Colors painted a breathtaking backdrop to a day filled with exploration and delicious discoveries.

The morning began with a hearty breakfast at Cerro Arriba Restaurante. The fresh air and stunning views from the restaurant were the perfect way to start the day. It was a simple meal, but the flavors were rich and authentic, setting the tone for a day of immersing myself in the local culture. I met up with my friends, and we discussed our excitement for the day. We've been planning this trip for months, and it's surreal to finally be here, experiencing it all together.
Our first stop was, of course, the iconic Hill of Seven Colors. The geological formations were truly a sight to behold. The various shades of red, ochre, and green swirled together, creating a masterpiece that no artist could ever replicate. We spent a good hour simply taking in the panoramic views and snapping photos from every angle. The crisp December air made the experience even more invigorating.
The earth has music for those who listen.
Afterward, we drove to the Mirador de la piedra sola. The views from here offered a different perspective of the Hill of Seven Colors and the surrounding landscape. It was less crowded, allowing us to enjoy a moment of peace and quiet contemplation. I took some time to reflect on how fortunate I am to be able to experience such incredible places. This trip is a welcome break from the digital world, a chance to reconnect with nature and appreciate the simple things in life.

For lunch, we headed to Lo de Tere - COCINA & PASTELERÍA ANDINA. This charming restaurant offered a delightful array of regional specialties. I opted for a traditional Andean sandwich, filled with local cheeses and cured meats. The flavors were bold and satisfying, a perfect reflection of the local cuisine. My friends and I shared stories and laughter over lunch, savoring every moment of our adventure. It's moments like these that make traveling with friends so special.

In the late afternoon, we explored the village of Purmamarca itself. The quaint streets were lined with colorful adobe houses and artisan shops. I picked up a few souvenirs for my family back in the States, little reminders of this unforgettable trip. The local artisans were incredibly talented, crafting beautiful textiles, pottery, and jewelry. I even tried my hand at bargaining for a hand-woven scarf, a skill I definitely need to improve upon!
As the sun began to set, we made our way to Restaurante La Cacharpaya for dinner. This cozy restaurant was known for its traditional Argentine cuisine and warm hospitality. I indulged in a hearty plate of locro, a traditional stew made with beans, corn, and meat. It was the perfect comfort food to warm us up on a chilly evening. The restaurant was filled with locals and tourists alike, all enjoying the delicious food and lively atmosphere.

To cap off the evening, we decided to check out El Patio Cervecero- Sanwicheria, a local bar known for its craft beers and sandwiches. It was a laid-back spot, perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring. I sampled a local IPA, brewed with native hops, and savored the unique flavors. We chatted with some of the locals, learning more about the history and culture of the region. It's these interactions that truly enrich the travel experience, connecting us with the people and places we visit.

And who knows, maybe I'll find some more treasures at Humahuaca Artesanías y Regionales.
Before drifting off, I'm reminded of my friend's sunglasses that were left back in Berlin, hopefully the sun isn't too harsh tomorrow. But regardless, I'm sure tomorrow will be another amazing day in Quebrada de Humahuaca with my friends!
It’s days like today that remind me why I left the predictable world of corporate software development. This journey, this freedom, this connection – it’s what I was searching for. And I'm finding it, one colorful mountain and delicious meal at a time.
