The park's winding pathways invited us to wander through its picturesque landscape. I found myself particularly drawn to the interactive sculptures scattered throughout the grounds. They added a playful element to the serene environment, making it a fun experience for everyone. The gentle sounds of rustling leaves and birdsong provided a soothing backdrop, allowing us to escape the stresses of everyday life. It was a refreshing contrast to the historical intensity of Elmina Castle, offering a moment of lightheartedness and joy.
Travel is not just about seeing new places, but about experiencing new perspectives and connecting with different cultures.
Next on our list was Bonkus Park, another local favorite. Bonkus Park offered a different kind of experience, with more of a focus on recreational activities and community engagement. We enjoyed watching locals play games and families spending time together. It was a great way to immerse ourselves in the everyday life of the community and feel a sense of connection with the people of Elmina.

The restaurant's menu boasted an array of traditional dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients. I decided to try the jollof rice, a classic West African dish, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were vibrant and the spices were perfectly balanced. The restaurant itself had a charming ambiance, with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. In the afternoon, we took some time to shop for souvenirs at Wan Dada Collections. This local shop offered a variety of handcrafted items, perfect for remembering our trip to Ghana. I found a beautiful piece of Kente cloth, a traditional Ghanaian textile, to bring home to Olivia. It was a meaningful way to support local artisans and take a piece of Ghanaian culture back with me to Toronto. The shop owner was incredibly friendly and shared stories about the history and significance of the items she sold. It was more than just a shopping experience; it was a cultural exchange.
