Today was all about immersing ourselves in the heart of Chefchaouen, venturing beyond the well-trodden paths to uncover the stories and flavors that make this blue city so unique. Daniel and I set out with a plan to explore, taste, and capture the essence of this Moroccan gem, and what a day it turned out to be!

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Café & restaurant Meftah. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and traditional Moroccan spices filled the air, instantly awakening our senses. We snagged a table with a beautiful view and ordered a selection of local delicacies. I opted for the Moroccan chicken, while Daniel chose a savory tagine. The friendly staff made us feel right at home, offering recommendations and sharing stories about the city's history. It was the perfect start to a day of exploration.

With our appetites satisfied, we made our way to the Ethnographic Museum of Chefchaouen. Housed within the Kasbah, the museum promised a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage. As we approached, I couldn't help but marvel at the Kasbah's imposing structure, a fortress built in the 15th century to protect the town from invaders.

I was particularly fascinated by the displays on costume and weaving, marveling at the intricate designs and vibrant colors. The tagine, slow-cooked to perfection, was a symphony of tender meat, vegetables, and fragrant herbs. The couscous, light and fluffy, provided the perfect accompaniment. It was a meal that truly satisfied our cravings for authentic Moroccan flavors.

Sipping our tea, we reflected on the day's adventures, feeling grateful for the opportunity to experience Chefchaouen's unique charm.

With the sun beginning to set, we made our way to Restaurant Hajji for dinner. Located near the Grand Mosque, the restaurant offered a warm and inviting atmosphere. The blue walls echoed the city's vibrant hues, creating a cozy backdrop for our meal. We started with a selection of Moroccan salads, a colorful array of fresh vegetables and flavorful dressings. For our main courses, I chose the couscous, while Daniel opted for one of the tagine dishes. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the ambiance perfect. It was a fitting end to a day of culinary delights.

After dinner, we decided to experience Chefchaouen's nightlife, stopping by Restaurant Bar Chaouen for a nightcap. The bar had a casual atmosphere, with a mix of locals and tourists enjoying drinks and conversation. We ordered a couple of cocktails and settled in, soaking in the lively ambiance. The bar also had a Braille menu. It was the perfect way to unwind after a busy day, sharing stories and laughter with fellow travelers.

As we walked back to Hotel Casa Miguel, the city was bathed in the soft glow of streetlights, the blue walls taking on an ethereal quality. Tomorrow, we plan to venture further afield, exploring the Waterfalls Akchour and Jebel Bouhachem Nature Reserve. But for tonight, we're content to savor the memories of a day well-spent, a day of discovery in the heart of the Blue Pearl.

Before drifting off to sleep, Daniel and I had a chuckle about some of the essentials I'd forgotten to pack – namely, a power adapter!
