Today was a day of contrasts, a blend of panoramic views, historical exploration, and the simple joys of wandering through the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen. It's amazing how much history and culture can be packed into a single day, and I'm excited to share my experiences with you all. My day began with a hearty breakfast at Traditional kitchen. It’s a great place to savor tagine, couscous, and harira soup, all prepared with fresh ingredients from local markets.

With a full stomach and a sense of adventure, I set off to conquer the Hero Eagle. The walk was invigorating, the crisp October air a refreshing change from Berlin. As I ascended, the city unfolded beneath me, a mesmerizing tapestry of blue hues stretching across the Rif Mountains. The Hero Eagle itself is more of a viewpoint, but the panoramic vista it offers is simply breathtaking. I spent a good hour there, soaking it all in and capturing photos from every angle. It's a perfect spot to appreciate the unique architecture and the serene atmosphere of Chefchaouen. The views were simply stunning, a sea of blue stretching as far as the eye could see. It was a bit of a climb, but so worth it for the panoramic vista. I felt like I was on top of the world, or at least, on top of Chefchaouen!

For lunch, I ventured to Amigo, a local restaurant known for its traditional Moroccan cuisine. I decided to try the sardine tagine, a local specialty, and it was absolutely delicious. The tagine was flavorful, and the sardines were incredibly fresh. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and I enjoyed chatting with some of the locals. Amigo is a popular spot, and I can see why. They offer absolutely tasty typical Moroccan dishes: the tajine with sardines, which we recommend, the chicken beldi and home-made fries or the hearty couscous.

After lunch, I couldn't resist the allure of the Hibart Souvenirs Shop. I was on the hunt for a few special mementos to bring back home to Hans and Sophie. The shop was a treasure trove of local crafts, from hand-painted ceramics to intricately woven textiles. I ended up buying a beautiful Berber rug for our living room and a few small trinkets for Sophie. The shop is conveniently open every day, allowing you to stop by at your leisure. The friendly staff is eager to share the stories behind their products, enhancing your shopping experience.

As the day drew to a close, I treated myself to dinner at RESTAURANT CASA ANDALUZ. The restaurant is known for its authentic Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine, and I was eager to try their chicken dish. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were a delightful blend of spices and herbs. The restaurant had a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect place to unwind after a busy day.

Before heading back to Riad Zaitouna Chaouen, I took a leisurely stroll through the medina, soaking in the sights and sounds of the city. The blue-washed streets were even more magical in the soft evening light, and I couldn't resist snapping a few more photos. The medina is relatively compact, so it's easy to navigate on foot, and you'll likely get lost in its maze-like streets – which is all part of the charm.
