Today marked my second day in Todra Gorge, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Waking up in this serene environment, with the promise of exploration ahead, filled me with anticipation. I’m finding that traveling solo really allows me to absorb the essence of a place, setting my own pace and lingering where my curiosity leads me. It's a far cry from my usual structured life back in Heidelberg, but I'm embracing the freedom and spontaneity.

My day began with a delightful breakfast at Venice café. The café, which specializes in brunches and chocolate delights, offered a perfect start to the day. I savored a traditional Moroccan pastry with mint tea, watching as the town slowly came to life. It’s amazing how a simple breakfast can be so much more enjoyable when you’re surrounded by such stunning scenery. I made a mental note to try brewing my own mint tea when I get back home; it might just bring a little bit of Morocco into our Heidelberg kitchen. I also took the time to journal, capturing my thoughts and observations from the previous day. I almost forgot my portable phone charger, luckily I remembered it just in time before leaving my room.

With a full stomach and a sense of adventure, I set out to explore the Gorges Toudgha. The towering canyon walls, reaching up to 400 meters in some places, were absolutely breathtaking. I spent hours simply wandering through the gorge, taking photos and marveling at the sheer scale and beauty of nature's architecture. The gorge has been carved out by the Todra River over centuries, creating a dramatic landscape that is a paradise for photographers, climbers, and hikers. The temperature was perfect, with daytime highs ranging from 20°C to 30°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities.

Sometimes, the most profound experiences are found in the simplest of moments, surrounded by nature's grandeur.

After immersing myself in the grandeur of the gorge, I decided to visit the Plantation de Tinghir. This lush oasis offered a welcome contrast to the rugged landscape of the gorge. As I walked through the plantation, I was surrounded by a vibrant array of crops and palm trees. The gentle rustle of leaves and the distant sounds of local wildlife created an enchanting atmosphere. I had the opportunity to speak with some of the local farmers, who shared their knowledge about sustainable farming practices and the significance of the various crops grown in the area. It was fascinating to learn about the traditional methods they use to cultivate the land and how they preserve the natural resources of the region. It reminded me of the importance of sustainable living, a topic Hans and I often discuss back in Germany. I even sampled some fresh dates, which were absolutely delicious. The Fondation Yves Rocher is supporting communities in the Tinghir region with tree planting and agroforestry projects, which is heartening to hear.

For lunch, I stopped at RESTAURANT BAB TODRA, a hidden gem known for its authentic Moroccan cuisine. I indulged in a flavorful tagine, cooked with fresh, local ingredients. The restaurant had both indoor and outdoor seating, and I chose a spot on the terrace overlooking the picturesque landscape. The warm hospitality of the staff made the experience even more enjoyable. I savored every bite, appreciating the rich flavors and spices of Moroccan cuisine. I must remember to try and recreate this tagine when I get back to Heidelberg, perhaps with some locally sourced ingredients from the farmers market. After lunch, I enjoyed a cup of homemade mint tea, a local favorite.

In the late afternoon, I sought out the Café Restaurant Marrakech for a refreshing drink. This charming grill restaurant had a relaxed ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. I sat outside, sipping on a cool beverage and watching the locals go about their daily lives. It was a great spot to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Tinghir. The café is known for its grilled dishes, and the aromas wafting from the kitchen were tempting.

As evening approached, I decided to have dinner at Restaurant Cafe Oasis Rose. This cozy café had a homey atmosphere and a menu featuring traditional Moroccan dishes. I ordered a tagine, which was flavorful and satisfying. The staff was friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome. The cafe is conveniently located and has a beautiful interior.

Before heading back to my guesthouse, I made a quick stop at Café Restaurant Marrakech again. The evening air was cool and refreshing, and the café was bustling with activity. I enjoyed a cup of coffee, reflecting on the day's adventures. I thought about Hans and how much he would have loved experiencing this with me. I made a mental note to plan a trip back here with him someday. Maybe we could even try some rock climbing, or explore the Todra Palmeraie.

As I walked back to my guesthouse, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the experiences I had today. From the towering cliffs of Gorges Toudgha to the lush oasis of Plantation de Tinghir, every moment was filled with wonder and discovery. The friendly locals, the delicious food, and the stunning scenery all contributed to an unforgettable day. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow, when I plan to embark on a hike through Todra Gorge and take in the panoramic views from Tinghir Oasis. I also plan to visit Noor boutique. I'm sure there will be more amazing sights and experiences awaiting me.

Tonight, as I settle in for the night, I feel a sense of contentment and gratitude. Todra Gorge has captured my heart with its natural beauty and warm hospitality. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. I am also happy that I remembered to pack my hiking boots, sunscreen and reusable water bottle for this trip.
