Today was all about immersing myself in the heart of Todra Gorge, a place where history and nature intertwine to create a truly unique experience. It's amazing how much you can pack into a single day when you're open to adventure and letting the local rhythm guide you.
My day began with a delightful breakfast at dar ait bara chez habitant. It's always special to start the day with a meal prepared with such care and authenticity. The simple flavors of traditional Moroccan breakfast fare were the perfect fuel for the day's explorations. I savored every bite, knowing that each dish told a story of the land and its people. It reminded me of those cozy mornings back in Svendborg, enjoying a simple breakfast before a day of cycling along the coast. The warmth and hospitality of the hosts made me feel right at home, a sentiment that resonates deeply with the Danish concept of 'hygge'.

With a full stomach and a sense of anticipation, I set out to explore the Kasba ancienne kaserne millitaire. This ancient military barracks is a testament to the region's rich history. As I wandered through the courtyards, I could almost hear the echoes of soldiers past, their stories etched into the very stones beneath my feet. The kasbah offered stunning views of the surrounding landscape, a panorama of dramatic mountains and lush valleys. I spent a good hour simply soaking in the scenery, capturing the beauty with my camera. The intricate details in the architecture reflected the rich cultural influences that have shaped this region over centuries. It was easy to imagine the lives of those who once called this place home, their hopes and dreams woven into the fabric of the building itself. Sometimes, the most profound experiences are found in the quiet corners of the world, where history whispers and nature sings.
Next on my itinerary was Toudgha essoufla park. This serene park offered a welcome respite from the ruggedness of the gorge. I strolled along the pathways, admiring the lush greenery and the vibrant colors of the local flora. The park was a haven for birds, their songs filling the air with a symphony of nature. I found a quiet spot to sit and reflect, journaling my thoughts and observations. It was a perfect opportunity to reconnect with myself and appreciate the simple beauty of the natural world. Toudgha essoufla park is approximately 5 km away. Start on the main path leading towards Tinerhir, then take Rue Aydoud on your right. The walk will take about 1.5 hours. Before heading back to my guesthouse, I took a moment to reflect on the day's adventures. I had explored ancient ruins, strolled through serene parks, and savored the flavors of Moroccan cuisine. But more than that, I had connected with the local culture and the natural beauty of Todra Gorge. It was a day that I would cherish for years to come.
I'm already looking forward to tomorrow, when I plan to embark on a Tinghir oiasis hike and visit the Bridge on Todgha River. I'm also hoping to find some unique souvenirs at El bahdioui Carpet Store. I'll be sure to share all the details in my next blog post. For dinner, I'm planning to try Lepalmabella.
As I prepare for another day of exploration, I'm reminded of the importance of embracing the unknown and finding joy in the unexpected.
