Today was a day of venturing into the heart of Fes el Jdid, the 'New Fes,' a city brimming with history and architectural wonders. Leaving behind the familiar comfort of our riad, we were ready to immerse ourselves in the stories etched into every gate, plaza, and bustling street. The air was filled with the scent of spices and the echoes of daily life, a symphony that only Fes could compose.

Our exploration began with a hearty breakfast at Nagham Cafe. The terrace offered a stunning view of Bab Boujloud. It was a delightful way to fuel up for the day's adventures. I enjoyed a traditional Moroccan breakfast with mint tea, and Hans had some coffee. The food was delicious and set a positive tone for the day ahead. The cafe was near the iconic Bab Boujloud, also known as the Blue Gate, which was part of the unique culture of the city.

The menu featured a range of Fassi specialties, and we decided to try the pastilla and the lamb tagine. Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavors and textures that danced on our palates. The service was impeccable, making us feel like honored guests in a private home.

I made sure to rehydrate and take some medicine to prevent any stomach issues.

Tomorrow, we plan to explore the Mosque and University Kairaouine, the Henna Souk, and Place Rcif. I am particularly excited about visiting the Kairaouine University, one of the oldest universities in the world. Before that, we will have breakfast at La Maison Bleue. And in the evening, we might check out Empire bar for a drink, before having dinner at Les Mystères de Dar Tajine. I am looking forward to another day of discovery in this fascinating city.

As I prepare for another day of exploration, I am filled with a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to experience the magic of Fes. It's a city that truly awakens the senses and nourishes the soul, leaving an indelible mark on all who wander through its ancient streets.
