Today was a beautiful blend of spiritual contemplation and delightful culinary experiences here in Bamako. It's incredible how a single day can offer such a rich tapestry of culture and connection, especially when shared with my family. From the serene ambiance of a local mosque to the vibrant flavors of Malian cuisine, every moment felt like a deeper immersion into the heart of this amazing city.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at La Bel Epoc. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air as we settled into our seats. I ordered a traditional Malian breakfast, while Fatoumata and the kids opted for some familiar continental fare. It was a great way to start the day, fueling up for our adventures ahead. As the sun began to set, we made our way back to our accommodation, tired but content. Today was a day of spiritual reflection, cultural immersion, and culinary delights. Well, today, while at the Badenya Boutique, I thought I had found a solution. I bought what I thought was a universal charger, only to realize back at the accommodation that it was completely the wrong type! Fatoumata couldn't stop laughing. It seems I'll have to rely on my trusty camera and good old-fashioned directions for a bit longer. Sometimes, the little mishaps are what make travel so memorable!

This trip is not just a vacation; it's a pilgrimage to our roots, a chance to teach my children about their heritage, and an opportunity to reconnect with the land of my birth. Every day brings new discoveries and deeper appreciation for the beauty and resilience of the Malian people. I am so grateful for this experience, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
