Exploring the Enchanting Dades Valley with Family
Day 11: A Farewell to the Dades: Reflecting on a Moroccan Family Adventure
Relive our family's final day in Morocco's Dades Valley, filled with cultural gems, delicious cuisine, and unforgettable memories.
Adieu, Dades Valley!
As our Moroccan adventure draws to a close, I find myself filled with a bittersweet mix of emotions. The Dades Valley, with its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality, has captured a piece of my heart. Today, our final day, was a tapestry of experiences that perfectly encapsulated the magic of this region.
The day began with a delightful breakfast at Cafe restaurant Oussikis. The aroma of freshly baked bread and strong coffee filled the air as we sat down to enjoy our meal. We savored traditional Moroccan pancakes, drizzled with honey and accompanied by a selection of local jams. Sophie was particularly fond of the mint tea, declaring it the perfect start to the day. Hans and I enjoyed watching the valley come to life as the sun rose over the mountains. It was a simple, peaceful moment, a perfect way to begin our last day in this beautiful place. The weather in September is pleasantly warm and breezy, with average highs of 83°F (28°C) and lows of 58°F (14°C).

After breakfast, we decided to immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the Dadès Vallei. We drove along the winding roads, stopping frequently to capture the breathtaking views. The dramatic gorges, sculpted by centuries of erosion, were truly awe-inspiring. The vibrant colors of the rock formations, ranging from deep reds to soft oranges, created a mesmerizing spectacle. We took countless photographs, trying to capture the essence of this remarkable landscape. I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to share this experience with my family.

The journey may be ending, but the memories will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Our next stop was Dar Jnan Tiouira Dades, a guesthouse and restaurant known for its refined and authentic comfort. The architecture of the hotel is very original. Mustapha, the host, greeted us warmly, offering us a tour of his beautiful property. The Dar is beautiful and interesting, with wonderful rooftop areas to star watch at night. He is a warm, friendly, and welcoming host. We explored the meticulously designed kasbah, admiring the intricate details and the stunning views from the terraces. It was evident that Mustapha and his family have put their hearts and souls into creating a welcoming and authentic experience for their guests. We learned that all rooms offer a view on the numerous terraces and patios of the kasbah and have personalized bathrooms made in 'tadelak' and are foreseen with heating for the colder nights.

Lunch was at Kasbah planète bleue dades, where we indulged in a feast of Moroccan delicacies. The staff showed a high level of hospitality. We savored the flavors of tagine, couscous, and other local specialties. Sophie, ever the adventurous eater, tried everything with gusto. Hans and I enjoyed watching her explore the new tastes and textures. The restaurant had a spectacular atmosphere. We enjoyed the beautiful view and warm atmosphere. It was a delightful culinary experience, a perfect complement to the visual feast we had been enjoying all day.

In the afternoon, we visited BELLE VUE DADES, a shop offering a variety of local products. We browsed through the colorful displays, admiring the handcrafted items and unique souvenirs. Sophie found a beautiful silver bracelet, a perfect reminder of our Moroccan adventure. I purchased a selection of spices, eager to recreate the flavors of Morocco in my own kitchen back in Sarnen. Hans, ever practical, bought a sturdy leather belt, a useful and lasting memento of our trip.

As I sit here now, reflecting on our journey, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences we have shared as a family. The Dades Valley has opened our eyes to a new culture, a new way of life. We have learned so much about the history, the traditions, and the people of this remarkable region. We have forged memories that will last a lifetime. The weather has been kind to us, allowing us to fully appreciate the beauty of the landscape. We will leave with hearts full of joy and a longing to return someday.
Tomorrow, we begin our journey home. There are no specific itinerary items for tomorrow, which marks the end of our trip. We will cherish the memories we have made in Morocco, and we will carry the spirit of the Dades Valley with us wherever we go. Thank you, Morocco, for an unforgettable adventure.
The experience of visiting Dar Jnan Tiouira was exceptional; the rooms are very comfortable, the cuisine excellent (thanks to Mostapha's sisters, special mention for the vegetarian meals), the view of the valley impressive. Go to the terrace at night to see the sky! Mostapha also showed us the Dades Valley, as well as a bit of the Sahara, it was always very good. In short, a perfect stay in all respects!
I am so glad that I was able to share this experience with Hans and Sophie. I am already looking forward to planning our next adventure. Perhaps we will explore the Swiss Alps together, or maybe we will venture further afield, to a new and exotic destination. Whatever we decide, I know that we will continue to create memories that will last a lifetime.
As I prepare to return to my work at the historical archives in Sarnen, I feel refreshed and inspired. I am eager to share my experiences with my colleagues and friends, and I hope to inspire them to embark on their own adventures. The world is a vast and fascinating place, and there is so much to see and learn. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
The beauty of the Dades Valley will forever be etched in my memory. I am already dreaming of the day when I can return to this magical place, to once again immerse myself in its culture, its history, and its natural wonders. Until then, I will cherish the memories of our Moroccan adventure, and I will continue to explore the world with my family, one journey at a time.
