A Day of Wildlife and Wonder

Today was everything I dreamed of and more! Kaziranga has truly captured my heart, and I can't wait to share all the exciting details of my day exploring this natural treasure. From the thrill of the jungle safari to the peaceful beauty of Kramsa Rock Garden ( Nampi ), and the unique experience at Camp Nampi (Previously Naturelust), every moment was a new adventure.

My day began before the sun even thought about rising. I had a quick breakfast at The Parkpoint Resort, fueling up with some strong chai and tasty local treats. The anticipation for the Kaziranga Jungle Safari was almost unbearable! I met my guide, and we set off in the pre-dawn chill, the air thick with mist and the promise of incredible wildlife encounters. The safari was in the Central Range, known for its high rhino density.

As the sun began to paint the sky with hues of orange and pink, the jungle came alive. It wasn't long before we spotted our first rhino, a massive one-horned beast grazing peacefully in the tall grass. I was mesmerized, snapping photos like a woman obsessed. We saw several more rhinos, some with their young calves, along with herds of deer, wild buffalo, and a kaleidoscope of birds. Although I was hoping to spot a tiger, they remained elusive today, but the experience was still incredible. The thrill of being so close to these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat is something I'll never forget.

After the exhilarating safari, I headed to Kramsa Rock Garden ( Nampi ), seeking a change of pace. The transition from the wild grasslands to the serene rock formations was a welcome one. The garden is beautifully maintained, with walking trails that wind through lush greenery and unique rock formations. It was the perfect place to relax and reflect on the morning's adventures. I spent a couple of hours wandering through the garden, taking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the stunning views. I even treated myself to some delicious local snacks at the garden's restaurant, savoring the flavors of Assam. The Kramsa Rock Garden offered a tranquil escape, a serene interlude amidst the raw, untamed beauty of Kaziranga. It was amazing to experience the blend of vibrant flora and serene rock formations, making it a perfect backdrop for nature photography and leisurely strolls.

Next on the agenda was Camp Nampi (Previously Naturelust), a unique camping facility near the central zone of Kaziranga National Park. I had lunch at Kaziranga Resort before heading over. The camp is nestled in the Karbi hills, south of the main park, adjacent to the Hatikhuli Tea Estate. The location is densely forested, and the camping area is carved out, clearing the trees and long shrubs typical to the Kaziranga area. It's a unique experience, sleeping in tents set up over traditional bamboo platforms. I explored the area, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the sounds of the jungle. The camp offers a serene experience, a perfect blend of comfort and nature.

Before heading back for the evening, I stopped at the Goodwyn Tea Retail Outlet - Kaziranga. As a tea lover, I couldn't resist the opportunity to sample some of Assam's finest teas. The store itself is a unique attraction, built inside a shipping container and decorated with chai kettles and tea bush branches. I tasted several different varieties, from garden-fresh Assam to artisanal blends of Oolong tea with rose petals. I even picked up a few gifts for Hans and Aisha, knowing they would appreciate the taste of India. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about tea, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Dinner was at Kodom Bari Retreat, Kaziranga., where I enjoyed a delicious Assamese meal. The flavors were rich and complex, a perfect end to a day filled with sensory experiences. I savored every bite, reflecting on the incredible day I had in Kaziranga.

As I sit here, writing this blog post, I can't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience this incredible place. Kaziranga is more than just a national park; it's a sanctuary, a place where wildlife thrives and nature reigns supreme. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow's adventures, which include a visit to the Kaziranga National Bamboo Park, Diphlu River Lodge, and the Kaziranga Orchid Park Culture Program. I'm also planning to stop by Hornbill Kaziranga for a drink in the evening. I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings, and I can't wait to share it all with you!

Kaziranga has truly captured my heart, and I know that this is a place I will never forget. The raw beauty of the landscape, the incredible wildlife encounters, and the warm hospitality of the Assamese people have made this a trip of a lifetime. Even though I am travelling solo, I feel so connected to my family back in Germany. I know Hans is taking good care of Aisha, and I can't wait to share all my stories with them when I return. Perhaps next time, we can all come together and experience the magic of Kaziranga as a family. I know Aisha would love to see the rhinos and elephants up close, and Hans would appreciate the natural beauty and tranquility of this incredible place.
