Today in Chefchaouen was a vibrant blend of art, breathtaking vistas, and delicious Moroccan cuisine. It's amazing how this blue city continues to surprise me with its hidden gems and stunning beauty. Eleanor and Kenji would have loved this day, I made sure to take plenty of pictures to show them when I get back to Bristol. It's days like these that remind me why I love to travel and share these experiences with all of you.

The day began with a hearty breakfast at Restaurant Lalla Messaouda. The aroma of freshly baked bread and mint tea filled the air as we settled into our cozy spot. I ordered a traditional Moroccan breakfast, complete with goat cheese, eggs, and olive oil – a delightful way to start the day. My friends opted for a selection of pastries, each more tempting than the last. The restaurant had a lovely view of Place Outa el Hammam, allowing us to watch the city slowly come to life.

After breakfast, we set out to explore the famed Tuiles Colorées. This attraction is a vibrant mosaic of colorful tiles that adorn the walls of local buildings. As we wandered through the narrow, winding streets, we were greeted by a visual feast of intricate tile patterns. Each tile seemed to tell a story, reflecting the cultural influences and traditional craftsmanship that have shaped Chefchaouen over the years.

The artistry was truly captivating. I found myself lost in the details of each design, admiring the skill and creativity of the local artisans. The vibrant colors and unique patterns made for an irresistible backdrop for photography. I snapped countless photos, trying to capture the essence of this artistic haven. It was a testament to the community's commitment to preserving their cultural identity through art.

To walk through Chefchaouen is to step into a living canvas, where every corner reveals a new masterpiece of color and culture.

Next on our itinerary was a visit to the City View Point. The walk to the viewpoint was a bit steep, but the promise of panoramic views kept us motivated. As we ascended, the city unfolded beneath us, revealing its iconic blue-washed buildings nestled among the rugged mountains of the Rif range. The contrast of the vibrant blue structures against the earthy tones of the landscape was mesmerizing.

Reaching the top, we were rewarded with a breathtaking vista. The entire city stretched out before us, a sea of blue cascading down the hillside. The surrounding mountains provided a stunning backdrop, their peaks reaching towards the sky. We spent a good hour simply taking in the view, marveling at the beauty of Chefchaouen. It was a tranquil escape, a moment to appreciate the natural surroundings and the harmonious blend of architecture and nature. I made sure to take some photos to show Eleanor and Kenji later, they would have loved this view.

For lunch, we decided to try Restaurant Triana. This restaurant is known for its blend of traditional Moroccan flavors and modern culinary techniques. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with intricate mosaics and vibrant colors that echoed the stunning landscapes surrounding the city. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including tagines, couscous, and fresh seafood. The lamb tagine was a standout, slow-cooked to perfection with aromatic spices that transported our taste buds to another world. The vegetarian options were equally delicious, made from fresh, seasonal vegetables.

After lunch, we took a leisurely stroll through the medina, exploring its hidden alleyways and bustling souks. The vibrant atmosphere was infectious. The air was filled with the sounds of bartering, the smells of spices, and the sights of colorful textiles and handicrafts. I picked up a few souvenirs for Eleanor and Kenji, hoping to bring a piece of Chefchaouen back home with me. As I was wandering through the market I saw a beautiful blue ceramic tile with intricate patterns. It reminded me of the Tuiles Colorées and I knew Eleanor would appreciate it. I also found a small, hand-carved wooden toy for Kenji, shaped like a camel. I'm sure he will love playing with it and it will remind him of our adventures in Morocco.

As the day drew to a close, we stopped by Restaurant Bar Chaouen for a relaxing evening. This bar offered a cozy atmosphere and a selection of refreshing drinks. We sat outside, enjoying the cool evening breeze and reflecting on our day of colorful discoveries. It was the perfect way to unwind and savor the memories we had made.
