Oasis of Calm and Flavors

Today was a beautiful blend of tranquility and gastronomic adventures here in Taroudant. It's amazing how each day unfolds with new surprises and experiences, deepening my appreciation for this charming Moroccan town. I'm so glad I chose to experience this with my friends, sharing laughter and creating memories that I know we'll cherish for years to come.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Snack Itrane. I opted for traditional Moroccan pancakes, which were light, fluffy, and drizzled with local honey. The sweetness was the perfect start to what I hoped would be a day filled with exploration and relaxation. I always find that trying local breakfast spots gives you a real taste of the culture, and Snack Itrane certainly delivered.

After breakfast, we made our way to Dar al Hossoun, a place I had been eagerly anticipating visiting. As we arrived, the beauty of the gardens immediately enveloped us. It felt like stepping into another world, a serene oasis filled with exotic plants and vibrant flowers. The air was fragrant, and the atmosphere was incredibly peaceful. We spent a good part of the morning wandering through the grounds, admiring the unique botanical collection. I was particularly fascinated by the variety of cacti and succulents; it reminded me of the desert landscapes back in Mexico.

The beauty of a place lies not just in what you see, but in how it makes you feel.

The architecture of Dar al Hossoun was equally impressive. The rooms and suites were decorated with stylish contemporary fixtures and traditional pottery, showcasing the local craftsmanship. I loved how natural materials like earth, stone, and wood were used throughout the lodge, creating a harmonious blend with the surrounding nature. It was evident that sustainability and eco-living were prioritized, which resonated deeply with my values.

We decided to have lunch at Snack House, a local spot known for its fast food. It was a casual and fun experience, and it seemed like a popular place for families. I tried the Moroccan-style chicken, which was flavorful and satisfying. It was a great contrast to the more refined dining we had experienced earlier in the trip, and it gave us a glimpse into everyday life in Taroudant.

In the afternoon, we ventured to Maison d'hôtes oasis de Tiout. The drive there was an adventure in itself, passing through picturesque landscapes and small villages. When we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The guesthouse was charming, with a beautiful view of the surrounding palm groves. We took a leisurely walk through the oasis, enjoying the shade of the palm trees and the tranquility of the surroundings. It was a perfect escape from the midday heat.

As the sun began to set, we headed back to Taroudant and decided to try Complexe Omar's houmer for dinner. This bar and grill restaurant is known for its grilled meats and Moroccan flavors. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff was friendly. We ordered a mixed grill platter to sample a variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. The perfect end to the day was sipping on traditional Moroccan mint tea.

Before heading back to our riad, we stopped by Complexe Omar's houmer. for a nightcap. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring. The ambiance was relaxed, and we enjoyed chatting with some locals and fellow travelers. It's moments like these that make traveling so special – connecting with people from different backgrounds and sharing stories.

As I reflect on today's adventures, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and the friendships I'm sharing them with. Taroudant continues to surprise and delight me with its beauty, culture, and warmth. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow, when we plan to visit Thami bike tours and the Centre de la mémoire historique de la résistance. I'm excited to learn more about the history of this region and explore the city on two wheels. And of course, I'm eager to try the local cuisine at مقهى ومطعم جنان السوسية for breakfast, Snack Yummy for lunch, and Café Restaurant El Khair for dinner. I also plan to visit Marché Municipale Jnan Jamaa, to get some souvenirs before heading back to Germany.

I'm also reminded of something that happened earlier today. While we were at Dar al Hossoun, I realized I had forgotten my sunglasses back at the riad. It was a minor inconvenience, but it made me think about the importance of being prepared while traveling. I made a mental note to add sunglasses to my list of essentials for future trips. It’s funny how the little things can sometimes make the biggest impact.

Tomorrow is our last day in Taroudant, and while I'm sad to leave, I'm also excited to see what new adventures await. I know that the memories we've made here will stay with me long after we've returned home. As I drift off to sleep, I can't help but smile, knowing that I'm living a life filled with travel, friendship, and unforgettable experiences.

Goodnight from Taroudant!

P.S. I still need to find a power adapter! It's been quite the challenge charging my devices, but I'm determined to find one before we leave. It's all part of the adventure, right?
