A Day Above the Blue: Parks, Views, and Sunset Hues

Today was all about elevating my perspective, both literally and figuratively. From tranquil parks offering serene escapes to panoramic viewpoints showcasing Chefchaouen's stunning beauty, it was a day of exploration and appreciation. And of course, no day in Chefchaouen would be complete without soaking in a mesmerizing sunset.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at the Traditional kitchen. I opted for a tagine, eager to immerse myself in the local flavors. The restaurant was cozy, adorned with traditional Moroccan decor that immediately transported me to a world where culinary art meets cultural heritage. It was the perfect start to a day of exploration. I must admit, sometimes I miss Greta's cooking, but trying new things is what travel is all about, right?
With our stomachs full and spirits high, my friends and I set out to explore Park Sidi Abdelhamid. The park wasn't too far from our riad, and the walk itself was a pleasant experience, as we passed through the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen. As we strolled, I couldn't help but think about Lila and how much she would have loved running around in this park. Maybe next time I’ll bring my family here.
Park Sidi Abdelhamid offered a welcome escape from the bustling medina. It wasn't a large park, but it was beautifully maintained with lush greenery and vibrant flora. We found a quiet bench beneath the shade of a tree and simply sat, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. It was a perfect spot for reflection, a moment to appreciate the simple beauty of nature amidst the vibrant city. I took a few photos, capturing the essence of the park's tranquility.
Sometimes, the most profound experiences are found in the simplest moments, like sitting in a park and observing the beauty of everyday life.

After our relaxing interlude at the park, we decided to seek out a panoramic view of Chefchaouen. Our destination: City View Point. The walk to the viewpoint was an adventure in itself, winding through narrow alleyways and up steep inclines. Each turn revealed a new perspective of the blue city, with its unique architecture and charming details. I couldn't resist stopping every few steps to capture another photo, eager to document every angle of this mesmerizing place.
Reaching City View Point was like stepping into a postcard. The entire city unfolded before us, a breathtaking tapestry of blue hues stretching across the Rif Mountains. The view was simply stunning, a perfect panorama of Chefchaouen's unique beauty. We spent a good hour there, soaking it all in and capturing photos from every angle. It was a moment of pure awe, a reminder of the beauty and wonder that exists in the world.
Lunch beckoned, and we made our way to Restaurant Bab Kasaba. The restaurant was ideally located, offering a rooftop dining area with enchanting panoramic views. We indulged in a variety of Moroccan dishes, savoring the flavors while enjoying the soothing ambiance and background music. I tried a traditional tagine with lemon chicken, a flavorful dish that perfectly captured the essence of Moroccan cuisine. The company was great, the food delicious, and the view spectacular – a truly memorable dining experience.
Our next stop was Hero Eagle, another viewpoint offering a unique perspective of Chefchaouen. The path to Hero Eagle was lined with local flora, offering glimpses of traditional Moroccan life. As we ascended, the city unfolded beneath us once more, a mesmerizing tapestry of blue hues stretching across the Rif Mountains.
Hero Eagle itself was more than just a viewpoint; it was an experience. The panoramic vista stretched across the town and the surrounding mountains, presenting a picturesque landscape that was a feast for the eyes. We spent some time there, capturing photos and simply enjoying the serene atmosphere. I imagined what it must have been like for the people who first discovered this place, the sense of wonder and awe they must have felt.
As the day drew to a close, we sought out the perfect spot to watch the sunset: Sunset at sunset. This bar was a hidden gem, offering a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with breathtaking views. We ordered some refreshing beverages – I opted for fresh orange juice, a local favorite – and settled in to watch the sky transform into a canvas of vibrant colors.
The sunset was nothing short of magical. Hues of orange, pink, and purple painted the sky, casting a warm glow over the blue city. It was a moment of pure serenity, a perfect ending to a day of exploration and discovery. We raised our glasses in a toast, grateful for the experiences we had shared and the memories we had created.
Tomorrow, we plan to delve deeper into Chefchaouen's cultural heart, visiting the Ethnographic Museum of Chefchaouen and exploring Bab El Ain. I'm particularly excited to learn more about the history and traditions of this enchanting city. But for now, I'll cherish the memories of today, the stunning views, the tranquil parks, and the mesmerizing sunset. Chefchaouen continues to surprise and delight, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
