Discover more about Bamahenge

Nestled in the scenic woodlands of Barber Marina near Elberta, Alabama, Bamahenge offers a unique and quirky roadside attraction. This full-scale fiberglass replica of England's famed Stonehenge was created in 2012 by artist Mark Cline, commissioned by local businessman George Barber. Inspired by Cline's earlier work, Foamhenge in Virginia, Barber sought to bring a similar sense of wonder to his marina. Bamahenge stands 21 feet tall and spans 104 feet across, mirroring the layout and orientation of the original Stonehenge, even aligning with the summer solstice. However, unlike the ancient, weathered stones of its inspiration, Bamahenge is constructed from fiberglass, giving it a clean, almost cartoonish aesthetic. This playful interpretation adds to its charm, making it a popular destination for families and those seeking offbeat attractions. Beyond Bamahenge, visitors can explore other unusual sculptures and art installations on the grounds of Barber Marina. This includes 'Dinosaurs in the Woods', a collection of life-size dinosaur statues, as well as other unique pieces like 'The Lady in the Lake', knights, and a giant spider.
