Discover more about Cloverdale Park

Cloverdale Park, located in the heart of Montgomery's historic Old Cloverdale neighborhood, is a beloved green space offering a peaceful retreat from city life. The park's origins are intertwined with the development of Cloverdale itself, which began in the late 19th century as one of Montgomery's first suburbs. The area was once part of William Graham's 160-acre tract, known as Graham's Woods, characterized by thick pine forests and open clover-filled glens. The name 'Cloverdale' was adopted in 1892.While the park provides a serene setting today, it holds a somewhat somber history. In the early 1940s, a tragic event occurred when a woman was attacked near a drainage ditch bordering the park, leading locals to dub the area 'Murder Ditch'. However, time and redevelopment have transformed the park into a vibrant community hub.Today, visitors can enjoy the park's open spaces, mature trees, and walking paths. The gazebo serves as a focal point for weekly music programs and community gatherings. The park also features a playground for children. Cloverdale Park remains a popular spot for picnics, leisurely strolls, and enjoying the neighborhood's charming atmosphere.
