There is a designated parking area near the castle entrance. Parking is free. From the parking area, a cobblestone path leads to the castle entrance, which takes about 5-10 minutes to walk.

The Castle of Borsh stands as a testament to Albania's long and turbulent history. Perched on a hill approximately 500 meters above sea level, near the village of Borsh, the castle, also known as Sopot Castle, commands panoramic views of the Albanian Riviera and the Ionian Sea. Originally built by the Chaonians in the 4th century BC, the site has been inhabited and fortified through various periods, including the Byzantine era and the Middle Ages. Its strategic location made it a coveted prize, leading to numerous conflicts and reconstructions. In medieval times, it was referred to as Sopot Castle. The earliest written documentation of Borsh Castle dates back to the early 13th century, when archbishop Demetrios Chomatenos wrote about the “archonship of Sopotos”. Over the centuries, the castle has been controlled by the Despotate of Epirus, the Republic of Venice, and the Ottoman Empire. Each power left its mark on the structure, contributing to the diverse architectural styles visible today. The most prominent remaining structure is the Hajji Bendo Mosque, built during the Ottoman period in the 17th century by Haxhi Bendo Vasil. Visitors to Borsh Castle can explore the extensive ruins, including the outer walls, the entrance gate, and remnants of various buildings and cisterns. The castle grounds occupy approximately 5 hectares, marked by large stone blocks.
