Discover more about Porto Palermo Beach

Porto Palermo Beach, a gem on the Albanian Riviera, beckons travelers with its clear turquoise waters and captivating historical surroundings. Located a mere 15-minute drive from Himarë, this beach is an ideal stop for those exploring Albania's stunning coastline. The beach distinguishes itself with a more authentic and unspoiled atmosphere. The beach itself is easily accessible and free to visit, setting it apart from more commercialized locations. The absence of rows of sunbeds and umbrellas contributes to its untouched, natural feel. The bay is known for its calm and clear waters, making it an excellent spot for swimming, snorkeling, and family outings. Adding to the allure of Porto Palermo is its rich history. The Porto Palermo Castle, built in the early 19th century by Ali Pasha of Tepelena, stands proudly on a peninsula overlooking the bay. The castle, with its unique triangular shape, is open to visitors and offers panoramic views of the coast and the Ceraunian Mountains. The area also holds remnants of a former submarine bunker, a relic from Albania's communist past, adding another layer of historical intrigue. While the beach itself is relatively undeveloped, a modest café provides refreshments. The surrounding area offers opportunities to explore other nearby attractions, including the beaches of Himarë, Qeparo and Borsh.
