Public Transport
To reach Petrela Castle via public transport from Tirana, take a bus from the Southeast Bus Station towards Elbasan. Ask the driver to drop you off in Petrelë. Buses typically depart every 30 minutes, and the journey takes approximately 35 minutes. From the center of Petrelë, it's about a 20-30 minute uphill walk (1 km) to the castle along Rruga Petreles. Bus fare is around 100-300 ALL.
Taxi
A taxi from Tirana to Petrela Castle offers a more direct and comfortable option. Taxis are readily available throughout Tirana. Negotiate the fare beforehand or ensure the meter is running. The drive takes approximately 20-30 minutes, and the cost is estimated to be between 1500-2500 ALL. The taxi can drop you off near the castle entrance on Rruga Petreles.
Driving
If driving from Tirana, head towards the Tirana-Elbasan highway (SH3). Take the exit towards Petrelë and follow the signs for Petrela Castle. Once in Petrelë, follow Rruga Petreles uphill to the castle. Parking is available near the entrance, and there may be a small fee depending on the time of your visit. Note that the road is narrow and winding in the final approach.
