Getting there

Walking

From the center of Himarë (Spile Beach area), many attractions, restaurants, and shops are within walking distance. The promenade stretches along the coast, offering a pleasant walk with sea views. To reach Old Himarë and the castle, it's a steep 3km uphill walk. Consider taking a taxi or driving up, especially during hot weather. Cost: Free, but wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Public Transport

Buses connect Himarë with other destinations along the Albanian Riviera, such as Vlorë and Sarandë. There is no designated bus station, but buses stop at the 'Big Market' (red supermarket). Check with locals or your accommodation for the most up-to-date schedules. Cost: A bus from Himarë to Dhërmi costs $15-$17.

Taxi

Taxis are available in Himarë, and can be used to reach destinations within the town or nearby areas. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey. Taxis can be found near the main beach (Spile) or arranged through your accommodation. Cost: A taxi from Himarë to Dhërmi costs $29 - $40.

Parking

Parking can be found in Himarë, but it can be difficult to find free parking in the northern section of Himare. Private parking lots are available, with rates around 300 Lek for 3 hours or 700 Lek for the day. Parking near the beach may cost around 800 ALL. Cost: 300-800 Lek.

The Old Town, with the Himarë Castle, showcases this rich history, offering stunning views and a glimpse into the past.Today, Himarë is a blend of old and new, with the old settlement (Fshat) located on a hill and the modern settlement centered on Spile along the coast. The town offers a variety of activities, from relaxing on the beaches and swimming in the Ionian Sea to exploring the historic sites and enjoying the local cuisine. Several beaches can be found in Himare, including Spile Beach, Prinos Beach and Potami Beach. Himarë is also a great base for exploring other nearby attractions such as Porto Palermo Castle and Gjipe Beach.
