The Skanderbeg Statue, a commanding presence in Tirana's central Skanderbeg Square, pays tribute to Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu, Albania's national hero. Skanderbeg is revered for his leadership in resisting the Ottoman Empire during the 15th century.The 11-meter (36 ft) bronze statue, the work of sculptor Odhise Paskali, depicts Skanderbeg in full battle regalia, mounted on a horse.
