Discover more about Tuneli i Llogarase

The Llogara Tunnel represents a significant feat of engineering, improving connectivity between Vlora and the Albanian Riviera. This 6-kilometer tunnel, the longest in Albania, passes beneath the Llogara Pass, which is 1,027 meters above sea level. The tunnel is part of the SH8 highway and significantly cuts down travel time, making the journey to the southern coast more accessible. Prior to the tunnel's construction, the twisting road over the Llogara Pass was the primary route, known for its steep inclines and hairpin turns. The construction of the tunnel addresses these challenges, offering a safer and faster passage. The tunnel project, costing approximately 142 million euros, includes advanced systems for drainage, ventilation, fire protection, and emergency services. As you approach the tunnel, whether from the north near Dukat or the south closer to the Albanian Riviera, the landscape offers panoramic views. The tunnel's entrances themselves provide unique vantage points, framing the dramatic cliffs and verdant terrain. The surrounding Llogara National Park is known for its diverse flora and fauna, with hiking trails and natural beauty to explore. The tunnel not only serves as a means of transport but also as a gateway to the natural wonders of the Albanian Riviera.
