Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Walking
From the center of Berat, start at the suspension bridge and follow the road to the right onto Rruga Mihal Komnena. This cobblestone path leads uphill towards the main entrance of Berat Castle. The walk is approximately 1 km and takes about 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace. Be aware that the cobblestones can be uneven and slippery, so wear comfortable shoes. There is also a shortcut available about halfway up the road, though it involves a steep, zig-zagging climb.
Public Transport
Local buses depart from the bus terminal in Berat to the entrance of the castle. While there isn't official information on bus timetables or prices, locals can provide guidance. The bus ride takes you directly to the castle entrance. A bus ticket costs around 1.5 euros.
Taxi/Car
Taxis and cars can drive up to the main gate of Berat Castle. The drive from Berat city center is short, approximately 5 minutes. A small, free parking lot is available near the castle, but it tends to fill up quickly. Consider that parking in the old town is limited.
