Discover more about Kuzum Baba

Kuzum Baba, rising above Vlorë, is more than just a scenic overlook; it's a place of deep spiritual importance. This natural terrace, approximately 30 meters above sea level, is named after Sejjid Ali Sulltan, known as Father Kuzum, a revered Bektashi leader whose tomb is believed to be located here. The Bektashi order, a branch of Sufism known for its tolerance and spiritual enlightenment, considers Kuzum Baba a key site. A Bektashi tekke (temple) was built here around 1600, flourishing in the 17th century before being destroyed in 1826. Rebuilt after 1945 and reopened in 1992, the tekke remains one of the most important Bektashi centers in Albania. Visitors climb the hill not only for the spiritual experience but also for the breathtaking views. From the summit, one can see the city of Vlorë, the Adriatic Sea, and the surrounding landscape. The site provides a tranquil environment for reflection and offers a unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty.
