    From Lezhë, take the highway towards Tirana and immediately exit to Ishull Lezha. Follow the road to Tale, then continue towards Kune-Vain-Tale Reserve. The entrance is located at coordinates PH9X+49P. Parking is available in designated areas. Note that road conditions can be poor in some areas.

  • Public Transport

    Take a local bus from Lezhë to Tale. Buses typically depart from Lezhë's central bus station. From Tale, local taxis can take you to Kune-Vain-Tale Reserve, approximately 5 km away. A taxi fare will likely cost around 500-800 ALL.

  • Walking/Biking

    From the center of Tale, you can walk or bike to Kune-Vain-Tale Reserve. It is approximately 2 kilometers (25-minute walk). Renting a bike from local vendors in Tale may be an option. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Kune-Vain-Tale Reserve, located in northern Albania where the Drin River meets the Adriatic Sea, offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and biodiversity. This 43.93 km² reserve encompasses Kunë Island, the Kunë-Vain Lagoon, woodlands, and diverse ecosystems. Originally established in the 1930s by King Zog I as a hunting ground, it became Albania's first protected area. In 2010, it was designated a Nature Reserve. The reserve is an Important Bird Area recognized by BirdLife International, home to almost 200 bird species, including flamingos and the endangered Ferruginous duck. The reserve's diverse habitats host 277 plant species and 341 animal species, including mammals, amphibians, insects, and fish. Visitors can explore the area's unique flora and fauna, enjoying picturesque views of the Drin River delta. Hiking, birdwatching, photography, and picnicking are popular activities. The reserve's serene landscapes offer a peaceful escape, allowing visitors to reconnect with nature. The newest addition to the area is a road and bike path that leads through the Vain Lagoon to a beach lined with pine trees. At the end of the road, a rickety lookout tower provides views of the marshy landscape and birds, along with a small beach resort with a restaurant and bar.
