Discover more about Muzeu Etnografik i Vlorës

The Ethnographic Museum of Vlorë provides visitors with a rich understanding of the region's cultural heritage. Established in 1966, the museum is located in one of the city's oldest buildings, a beautifully restored three-story structure dating back to the mid-19th century. The building itself is a cultural monument. The museum's collection includes metalwork, woodwork, clothing, embroidery, and fishing tools crafted by local residents. Exhibits recreate traditional living spaces, including a shepherd's room, a metalworking shop, a fishing room, and a weaving room. The second floor features a salon, separate rooms for men and women, and a weaving room. In 1908, the building housed the Labëria Club, a patriotic organization, with Ismail Qemali Vlora as its honorary president. In 1909, it became home to the first Albanian-language school for girls in the city, led by patriot Marigo Posio. The museum was inaugurated on November 27, 1982, marking the 70th anniversary of Albania's declaration of independence. A visit to the Ethnographic Museum offers an enriching experience and a deeper understanding of the local culture.
