Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Béjaïa city center, take a local bus (bus number 3 or 4) towards the Gouraya area. Inform the bus driver you want to get off at the stop closest to the foot of Gouraya Mountain. Bus fare is approximately 15 DZD. From the bus stop, follow the signs leading to Fort Yemma Gouraya and hike up the designated trail to the fort, approximately 660 meters from the base.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are available in Béjaïa. A taxi to the base of Gouraya Mountain, where the hiking trail begins, will cost approximately 200-300 DZD from the city center. From there, follow the hiking trail to the fort.

  • Walking

    From the center of Bejaia, start at Avenue du 1er Novembre and walk northeast towards Place du 1er Novembre, a central square. At the square, take Avenue de la Liberté heading south. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rue des Frères Boukha. Turn left onto Rue des Frères Boukha and follow it until you reach the foot of Gouraya Mountain. Here, you will see signs indicating the trail to Fort Yemma Gouraya. Follow the marked hiking path that leads to the fort, approximately 660 meters above sea level. Allow ample time for a moderately challenging uphill hike.
