Papaseea Sliding Rocks: Samoa's Natural Waterpark

Papaseea Sliding Rocks, situated in Se'ese'e, Faleata District, just outside of Apia, is a natural water park carved into volcanic rock. Over centuries, the Papase'ea Stream has smoothed the basaltic lava flows, creating a series of natural slides and refreshing pools. The site holds cultural significance, as it was historically a place where Samoan families gathered for leisure and socialization.The sliding rocks offer different levels of thrill, with the 'men's slide' being the steepest and the 'kids' and 'women's slides' providing gentler options. The main slide is approximately five meters long. The uppermost waterfall cascades into Le Telesa's Pool, named after the protector spirit of the pools. Visitors can swim year-round, but it's best to visit during the dry season (May to October) when water levels are optimal. Weekdays are recommended to avoid crowds. The site includes changing rooms and toilet facilities near the parking area. Remember to secure your belongings and wear appropriate footwear for the slippery rocks. Please note that eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted by the waterfalls.
