The Museo Carmen Thyssen Andorra, inaugurated in March 2017, is located in the ground floor of the historic Hostal Valira in Escaldes-Engordany. This museum is the first international venue created from Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza's private collection, following museums in Madrid and Málaga. These exhibitions include works from Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and Expressionism movements. The building itself, the former Hotel Valira, is an example of Andorran granite architecture, with a distinctive honeycomb facade. The museum spans 500 m2, with 250 m2 dedicated to exhibition space, and is fully wheelchair-accessible. Interactive displays and audio guides enhance the visitor experience. Visitors can explore the museum through self-led tours with audio guides or request guided tours. The museum has been nominated for awards, including best European new museum by UNESCO in 2018.
