Refugi d'Ensagents: A Mountain Haven

The Refugi d'Ensagents is a welcoming, unmanned mountain refuge nestled in the picturesque Ensagents Valley of Encamp, Andorra. Situated at an elevation of 2,425 meters, this simple shelter offers a respite for hikers and adventurers exploring the high Pyrenees. Opened in 1981, the refuge features two rooms: a smaller space with a fireplace, originally intended for shepherds, and a larger room equipped with tables, benches, metal bunk beds, and a wood stove. With a capacity of 14 people, it provides basic accommodation for those seeking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Andorra's mountains. Outside, visitors can find barbecue facilities and a source of fresh water just a few meters away. The refuge is open year-round, although maintenance is typically carried out during the summer months, ensuring the facilities are clean and stocked with firewood and a first-aid kit. Mobile phone coverage is available in the area. The surrounding landscape boasts diverse flora and fauna, with trails leading to glacial lakes and panoramic viewpoints such as Alt del Griu.
