Getting There

  • Walking

    From Galleon Beach, walk to the end of the beach and continue around the corner. Follow the trail upwards through some bushes, then take the steps leading upwards. When the track veers right, towards the top of the Pillars of Hercules, keep to the left instead. This path will lead you over the hill and down to Mermaid's Garden. From there, you can access the Pillars of Hercules.

    From St. John's, a taxi to Galleon Beach or Freeman's Bay, the starting point for the hike to the Pillars of Hercules, will cost approximately $24 USD. Taxis in Antigua accept both US and Eastern Caribbean dollars. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

    From St. John's, take bus #17 or #65 towards English Harbour. Get off near Freeman's Bay. From there, walk along Freeman's Bay road, following the signs to Pillars of Hercules. The bus ride costs a few ECD.
