Getting There

  • Driving

    The main access to the park is via the Carretera Austral (Route 7), between the towns of Cochrane and Chile Chico. From Cochrane, drive north towards the Baker entrance. Turn east and follow the road for 7 miles to reach the park offices. From Chile Chico, head south on Route X-753 towards Lake Jeinimeni. The Jeinimeni sector is approximately 40 miles from Chile Chico. There are no tolls on these routes. Parking is available at the park offices and trailheads.

  • Public Transport

    Various public transport options are available, traveling daily from Coyhaique to Cochrane (Don Carlos, Águilas Patagónicas, Sao Pablo). There are also routes from Coyhaique or Cochrane to Chile Chico (Buses Aldea). From Coyhaique, travel to Puerto Ibáñez, where you can take the ferry crossing Lake General Carrera to Chile Chico. Chile Chico is 40 miles from the Jeinimeni sector, 107 miles from the Chacabuco Valley, and 111 miles from Cochrane. From Cochrane, take a local bus or taxi to the park entrance. Bus fares from Coyhaique to Cochrane range from CLP 8,000 to CLP 12,000. The ferry from Puerto Ibáñez to Chile Chico costs approximately CLP 5,000. Local bus/taxi from Cochrane to the park entrance is approximately CLP 3,000-5,000.
