Discover more about P.º del Bajo

Paseo del Bajo, officially known as Brigadier General Juan Manuel de Rosas highway, is a modern infrastructural marvel in Buenos Aires. Inaugurated on May 27, 2019, this 7.1-kilometer (4.4 miles) road corridor significantly improved the city's connectivity. Constructed to link the Illia and Buenos Aires-La Plata highways, Paseo del Bajo efficiently separates cargo and passenger transport, reducing traffic congestion and logistical costs. The highway features four lanes dedicated to trucks and long-distance buses, along with eight lanes for light vehicles on parallel streets. Running between major avenues such as Alicia M. de Justo, Ingeniero Huergo, and Ramón Castillo, it traverses key neighborhoods like Recoleta, Retiro, Puerto Madero, and San Telmo. This has not only eased traffic but also spurred urban renewal, including the creation of Parque del Bajo, a 102,000 m2 green space between Belgrano and Corrientes avenues. The project aimed to reconnect Puerto Madero and the Microcenter, which had been functionally separated due to inadequate transport infrastructure. With an average of 134,000 vehicles using it daily, Paseo del Bajo has become a vital artery for Buenos Aires, enhancing urban mobility and boosting productivity. It stands as a testament to modern engineering and urban planning, improving the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
