Discover more about Quinta Los Ombúes

Quinta Los Ombúes, a National Historic Monument, offers a captivating journey into the history of San Isidro and Buenos Aires. Built in 1760, the quinta (country house) features traditional colonial architecture, including white walls, a central courtyard, and spacious gardens with native Ombú trees. The museum's seven rooms display period furniture, historical artifacts, and personal belongings of notable Argentine families. One of its most celebrated former residents was Mariquita Sánchez de Thompson, who, according to local lore, may have sung the first rendition of the Argentine national anthem here in 1813. The house and gardens evoke scenes from the 19th century, from the British Invasions to the era of Unitarians and Federales. Visitors can explore the antique-filled mansion and enjoy the scenic beauty of the estate. The courtyard features an old tiled water well with iron details. The museum also has a library specializing in Argentine and San Isidro history. The grounds include a natural park on the riverbank. Guided tours are available.
