Getting There

From the northern end of El Chaltén, start on Avenida San Martín in the direction of the Laguna de los Tres trailhead. Follow the path as it ascends slightly, then descends towards Provincial Route 41. After a short distance, you'll see a signpost on your left indicating the path to Chorrillo del Salto. The trail crosses a low forest, continuing to the waterfall. The walk is approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) and takes about 1-2 hours each way. As of October 2024, there is a park entry fee of 45,000 ARS per foreign adult for two days, payable by card at the checkpoint or online in advance.
Driving

From El Chaltén, drive north on Route 23. After a few kilometers, you'll find a parking lot on the left-hand side of the road, approximately 10 minutes from town. From the parking lot, a short 1 km (0.6 mile) trail leads to the waterfall. Parking is free, but it's advisable to arrive early, especially during peak season, to secure a spot. As of October 2024, there is a park entry fee of 45,000 ARS per foreign adult for two days, payable by card at the checkpoint or online in advance. It's unclear if the fee applies if you drive directly to the parking area.

Chorrillo del Salto, meaning "Stream of the Jump", is a beautiful waterfall easily accessible from the trekking capital of Argentina, El Chaltén. The falls are located approximately 4 km (2.5 miles) from the town center, making it a popular choice for a shorter, less demanding hike. The trail to Chorrillo del Salto winds through a diverse landscape, starting from the edge of El Chaltén and leading into a forest of lenga and ñire trees.
