Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from El Calafate, head northwest on Av. Libertador Gral. San Martín towards Calle 1. Continue on Ruta 11 for approximately 80 km (50 miles) following the signs to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares. You will arrive at the entrance to Los Glaciares National Park. There is an entrance fee of around ARS 800 (subject to change). After entering the park, follow the signs for Glaciar Perito Moreno, which is about 14 km (8.7 miles) from the park entrance. The road is well-maintained and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.

• Public Transportation

  From El Calafate, you can take a bus to Glaciar Perito Moreno. Buses depart regularly from the main bus terminal in El Calafate. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and costs around ARS 300-400 (check for current prices). The bus will drop you off at the entrance to the park, where you will need to pay the entrance fee of about ARS 800. Once inside the park, you can either walk to the viewing platforms (about a 30-minute walk) or take a park shuttle for an additional cost to get closer to the glacier.

  Consider booking a guided tour from El Calafate, which typically includes transportation to and from Glaciar Perito Moreno. These tours often provide additional insights and context about the glacier. Prices vary, but expect to pay around ARS 6000-8000 per person, including the entrance fee. Tours usually last the whole day and include stops at key viewpoints along the way.
