Discover more about Aerosilla Cerro Campanario

Cerro Campanario, or Campanario Hill, is a celebrated viewpoint that provides some of the most stunning panoramic views in the Bariloche region of Argentina. Visitors can ascend to the summit via a convenient chairlift or a hiking trail. At the top, a 360-degree vista unfolds, showcasing the vast bodies of water, dotted with islands, and the snow-capped mountains of the Lake District. The mountain received its name after Monsignor Miguel de Andrea held a campaign mass there in February 1930. Today, an iron cross marks the location of this event. Originally, Cerro Campanario was part of a large farm owned by Primo Modesto Capraro, an Italian immigrant who settled in the Patagonia region in the early 20th century. At the summit (1,050 meters above sea level), several viewpoints act as natural windows to the unique landscapes. From here, you can spot landmarks such as the Nahuel Huapi and Moreno lakes, El Trébol lagoon, the San Pedro peninsula, Victoria Island, and the Llao Llao Hotel. A café at the top offers pastries, meals, and beverages, allowing visitors to relax and soak in the scenery. For those seeking a more active experience, a well-marked hiking trail winds through the forest, making the ascent an enjoyable 30–40 minute walk.
