Getting There

  • Car

    From Ushuaia, head northwest on Avenida San Martín toward Avenida Maipú. Continue on Avenida Maipú, and then take the RN3 road heading south. Follow RN3 for approximately 7 km until you reach the Tierra del Fuego National Park entrance. You may need to pay an entrance fee of around ARS 800 per person (subject to change). Once inside the park, continue driving on the main road until you reach the parking area for Laguna Esmeralda, which is well-marked.

    Take a local bus from Ushuaia to Tierra del Fuego National Park. Look for buses heading to 'Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego' at the bus terminal. The fare is approximately ARS 300 to ARS 500. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you will need to hike approximately 6 km to reach Laguna Esmeralda. The trail is well-marked and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, depending on your pace.
